Some travelers wish to experience not only travel within Mongolia, but the life of an everyday Mongolian nomad. We are happy to inform you that many of the countryside families we work with are in need of volunteer assistance during the summer months. We have partnered with some families to arrange homestays with the family, taking you into the family ger and allowing you to work right there beside them on daily projects. We wish to not only enliven your Mongolian experience but also provide sustainable assistance to families in the countryside. You'll have the chance to learn traditional Mongolian skills, such as herding, milking animals, felt or cheese making, airak (fermented horse milk) brewing, and caring for livestock. Not the typical "tourist trip" but an experience of a lifetime while also making a difference to the family that you stay with. A minimal fee will be charged in order to cover your living costs, provide extra income to the family, and for transportation out to the area where the family is staying.
